Hey y’all,

So sorry I’ve been quiet on here lately. It’s been almost three weeks since my last post, and whew, life has been lifing. But trust me, it’s all for a good reason.

I’ve been in full celebration mode as I get ready to honor 15 years of being an entrepreneur. Yes, fifteen! And if you know me, you know this isn’t just any milestone. We’re making it a full iCandi-versary.

In this post, I want to take you on a quick journey. I’m sharing how it all started, what this moment really means, and how I’m pulling it together for one unforgettable night. And don’t worry, I’ll be sharing all the juicy behind-the-scenes moments in Part Two.

How It Started: The Girl With the Camera

This journey didn’t begin in 2008. It started way back in high school with a video production class and a girl who fell in love with storytelling. I was the one asking, “Can I turn in a video instead of a paper?” Editing brought me joy, and I’ve been behind the camera ever since.

From local broadcast jobs to going back to school for film, I kept building. Life hit me with a curveball when I found out I was pregnant, but my tribe didn’t let me quit. After my daughter was born, I locked in, went full-force, and launched iCandi Productions.

We didn’t just create content. We created connection.

The Legacy We've Built: A Timeline of Magic

Let’s be clear—iCandi Productions has never been a one-woman show. I’ve been blessed to work with some of the most creative, loyal, and ride-or-die people. Together, we created magic.

• Make Me a Host – A local reality show before reality shows were trending

• iCandi After Dark – My first taste of online radio during my Florida chapter

• iCandi Radio Network – Built a digital family of dope hosts and meaningful conversations

• Christmas in CandiLand – Holiday albums, concerts, and giving back to families in need

• Chick Chat – Real talk web series created for and by women

• Two Hot Chicks Podcast – Me and Mocha, giving you bold, unfiltered vibes

• Late Night Chick Chat – A pandemic stream that gave us connection when the world shut down

• Women’s Empowerment Conferences – Pouring into our community with purpose and power

• Books – From Woman to Woman to the soon-to-be-released Butterfly Journal

• Life – Marriage, motherhood (again), loss, depression, healing, and finding my way back

The Comeback: From Darkness to Light

These past few years haven’t been easy. There were times when I wasn’t sure I’d find my way back. Creativity felt far away. But therapy, faith, and my village helped me rediscover myself.

Now, I’m in a new season. One where I honor my pain, celebrate my healing, and say, “I’m proud of you. You didn’t quit.”

This 15th anniversary? It’s not just a celebration. It’s proof.

Planning the Celebration: Host Mode Activated

You already know I had to throw a celebration. But planning your own event while also being the guest of honor? That’s a whole journey.

From designing award slides and editing tribute videos to confirming vendors and preparing speeches, it’s been nonstop. But it’s worth every moment.

Because I’m not just celebrating myself. I’m celebrating the people, the projects, the growth, and the resilience that got me here.
